Let me break it down…

There are hundreds of factors that can lead to dementia. Everyone’s dementia is unique and requires a personalised approach in order to get to the ‘root causes’ of the problem. Only then can you actually solve it.

I encourage you to seek out a private practitioner who understands this. They must have training in the ‘root causes’ of dementia and how to use a holistic approach. Find a functional medicine doctor, an integrative healthcare practitioner, a naturopath, a medical doctor… anyone who has gained additional training in a program such as the Bredesen Protocol (now Apollo Health).

As excellent as the accident and emergency services are in the UK’s NHS, treating and reversing chronic long-term conditions is unfortunately lacking. Dementia cannot be sorted out by your GP in 10 minutes! Many people will have tried that, even if referred to a consultant. A patient can be diagnosed and drugged, but they are given NO HOPE that anything more can be done. And so the decline continues….

This situation needs to change. Did you know there are many projects underway (mostly in the United States….) that are actually reversing dementia? This is now entirely possible if started early enough. But there is so much that we can all do for ourselves right now (while we look for a doctor to do a ‘root cause’ analysis). So let’s get started.

Here are the basic topics we need to look at if we want to PREVENT and even RECOVER from dementia. How many of these can you say YES to?

1. BREATHING & SLEEP
Do you sleep 7-8 hours a night without waking up?
Do you breathe through the nose (rather than the mouth)?
Do you sleep on your LEFT side all night (and not on your back)?
If you did snore, has it been addressed and stopped now?
Do you STOP eating food 3 hrs before bedtime? (eating late disrupts your circadian rhythm and robs the brain of repair time.)
Do you STOP using blue light screens (computer, iPad, mobile phone, TV) close to bedtime?
Do you get outside, breathe fresh air and see sunlight within 30 mins of waking up?
*If you had sleep apnoea, has it been addressed and stopped now?
* These require specialist private practitioner investigation (Your GP usually won’t do them)

2. GENETICS, TRAUMA, ACE’s, INFECTION & TICKS
