Summer: Blessings and Thanks!

This summer I welcome on board a truly creative, talented, accomplished evolved soul. Thank you Helen for finding my work, digging into it and wanting to help spread the word. You are amazing and so very welcome!!

Together we promote the Aims of the Dementia Pioneers:

  • Provide benefit to the public who are interested in dementia prevention, or who have memory problems or other symptoms, or are concerned about family members, companion or friends.
  • Raise awareness about dementia’s root causes to individuals & groups through delivery of talks, presentations & workshops in venues such as village halls, pubs, community centres and online.
  • Raise awareness about multimodal interventions for preventing and recovering from dementia.
  • Stimulate interest & promote adoption so prevention and recovery become the norm in the UK.
  • Empower the public to help themselves and their loved ones.

And this is just the beginning! We are setting up a UK national network in collaboration with the People’s Health Alliance (https:/help themselves/the-pha.org/) so everyone in the country has local access to the latest evidence on dementia prevention and recovery.

We are also grateful to a true friend of Dementia Pioneers from the early days. Many thanks to Michelle and the crew at UNIQUE Homecare (https://lancaster.unique-homecare.co.uk/) for their creation of the DP logo and for providing an office in the heart of Garstang!

We have a fantastic location from which to spread the word and the opportunity to regularly train homecare staff in dementia prevention – especially the benefits of outdoors and connection to nature!!

Deeply committed to the work of the Dementia Pioneers within the Gujarati community in Tameside, Greater Manchester is Dipak Dristi which provides multiple levels of support to elderly women living alone. Gujarati elders come together weekly for day support, yoga, preparing and cooking meals, dancing, singing, movement to music, exercise, cognitive stimulation, social interaction and celebrations! Dipak Dristi continues to actively support the work of the Pioneers for which we are very grateful!

In the heart of the beautiful Cumbrian Lake District the Dementia Pioneers has aligned with the holistic hub at Mother Earth shop in Windermere! “The Holistic hub is here to serve both our local community and for visitors here on holiday. We enjoy sharing our knowledge and experiences through talking, listening and experiencing. We are developing a deeper understanding of who we are and how to heal ourselves.”  https://motherearth.co.uk/blog/
